Deepthi (Kareena Kapoor Khan) and Varun Batra (Akshay Kumar) are a luxury, flying married couple who live in Mumbai and have a lot to do with their career. Even after trying the baby for a few years, Deepti has set her heart on it and later, some of her family, Varun decides to consult one of the city’s best fertility specialists.

Doctors recommend IVF and they are ready for it. A few days after the procedure, Deepti and Varun were said to have the same last name with a single sperm mixture. Enter ‘Chandigarh Se Se Batra’ in his life. Honey (Diljit Dosanjh) and Monica (Kiara Advani) are a powerful Punjabi couple and now it is a full clash of sensations between the two sets of Batra. Since both Deepti and Monica soon discover that they are pregnant, the rest of the film explores how the couple came to be and face this extraordinary situation.

For most of his runtime, director Raj Mehta sees ‘Good Nouveau’ stay true to his style with some very light and funny moments. Adding to this, the speed of the film is much stronger. Given the subject matter and the basis of the narrative, over time, the problematic field and attitude will change. And some of the jokes seem off-color. There is a tendency to overemphasize and simplify certain parts, they are sticking. Further, the script does not scratch the surface when it comes to the depth and complexity of the situation.

However, the performances are top-notch. Kareena Kapoor Khan steals the show, knocking it out as a sophisticated lamp and the emotional arc of her character is well developed. Akshay Kumar has come to the right place with his comic timing. Like Diljit Dosanjh, he plays with full enthusiasm in his role. Kiara Advani is honest and makes an impression. Adil Hussain is a hoot amidst all the illusion of being a straightforward doctor. And as a couple, both Kareena and Akshay play well with each other and are very confident in their many interactions.

At its heart, ‘Good News’ is a light and engaging comedy and certainly an entertaining watch.
