Avinash (Rajkumar Rao) was on a vacation with his family in Shimla, when he spotted the feudal local girl Naina (Rakul Preet) and proposed to her. But, when it comes to heartache, she stops working in her cafe because she is ashamed of women, so she stays close to him. When he finally builds up the courage to ask her for a ghostly letter, he instead remarks with his mother Rukmani (Hema Malini). A newly divorced Rukmani decides to try a relationship with a very young man.

Made in ‘Simla Mirchi’ in 2015 was a five-year delay as this Romi had no taker. Directed by veteran filmmaker Ramesh Sippy, the film is the first film to hit the screens in 25 years. There are only a few chuckle-worthy scenes in the second half. The first half is just the climax of a very long and monotonous build.

Rajkumar Rao played his role as a man of love. Rakul plays her role as a feudal small-town girl to perfection. Hema gives Mali some comic relief, but this is clearly unexpected. You laugh in scenes that are not funny. The plot has no real value in Shakti Kapoor’s Chinese jokes.

‘Shimla Mirchi’ is a strong romantic comedy that requires tough editing and a good climax. It features an interesting storyline with many possibilities that enhance the flavor of the story. But they don’t exist and the result is not enough to tickle your funny bone, a two-hour weird movie.
